Never Give Up on What You Love

Here goes my first post on this new blog of mine.

Where to start...

How about a confession?

I am a major fan of music, escpecially the kind that makes me want to dance (I know, I know. This doesn't sound like a confession, but bear with me)!

I have played the piano for over 10 years and take voice lessons.

Music is like paradise to me. When I play or listen (usually at full blast on my headset!) to it, I feel as though I have entered into a new world.

Music makes my soul feel free and I suddenly "live" in a music video.

I love music. Enough said.

So, heres the confession. I have suffered from some extreme lows in my life. And, during some of my saddest times, instead of turning to my music for comfort I abandoned it.

Yes, I still listened to music; however, I ceased, for a whole year, to let my heart create its own melody upon the beautiful black and white keys of my piano.

If you've watched The Last Song, my story sounds familiar to Ronnie's (although, I do not think that I am as skilled with the piano or singing as her).

I was just so angry at life that I gave up on my music...

Then, a couple months ago, I met two wonderful people - Isabel and Isaac (18 and 16 yrs) - who, without even knowing it, "relit the flame" for me.

These two friends are obsessed with guitar, piano, and singing, and have both been in bands in their home country - Uganda.

Watching their enthusiasm for music made me miss mine.

I STARTED PLAYING AGAIN!!!

It feels so good!

I wish I had never stopped, but I now have a newer and clearer appreciation for my piano, the lessons I had, and my parents who provided them to me for so many years.

I am now working on Christina Perri's song "A Thousand Years" and will hopefully be recording it with my friends sometime in the next couple of months.

Anyways, I just want to encourage you all to NEVER give up.

Do not let your anger get in the way.

Stick with whatever it is you enjoy.

Even if you feel inadequite or like an idiot at what you are doing, keep trying.

Remember, no one looks stupid when they are having fun.

"Never give up on something you can't go a day without thinking about"

Since we are on the topic, here is a song that I absolutely love:

And isn't he cute! ;)

That's a very inspirational post. You should never give up your dreams, after all, they're a big part of being alive. Maybe this break with your passion for music was necessary to appreciate it even more :)

    Have a nice weekend,
